In galvanized sheets, zinc metal is generally used in various ways to cover the surface of the sheet. The purity of the material covering the sheet surface, as well as its type, is the main determinant of the price difference between galvanized and aluzinc sheets, provided that the cross-sectional area of both metals is considered the same.
Sheet dimensions
There are differences in the standard dimensions of galvanized and aluzinc sheets. The dimensions of the sheets generally depend on the brand and manufacturer, however, it can be considered that different dimensions are considered for these sheets, especially in terms of thickness. Galvanized sheets are usually thicker than aluzinc sheets. This problem is more common in sheets produced by the hot-dip galvanizing process. The thickness of aluzinc sheets is between 0.4 and 0.8 mm, but the thickness of galvanized sheets starts from 0.5 mm and reaches 2 mm. Therefore, in general, the thickness of aluzinc sheets is less than that of galvanized sheets.
Longevity and durability
Aluzinc sheets have a longer lifespan, strength, and durability than galvanized sheets. The use of aluminum, zinc, and silicon coatings on aluzinc sheets increases their resistance to erosive factors such as rust and corrosion, thus increasing the lifespan of these panels.
Galvanized sheets, however, are less resistant and generally have a shorter lifespan. While it is sometimes seen that the galvanized coating gradually peels off the surface of the steel sheet, the surface coating of Aluzinc sheets is more adhesive and does not peel off easily.
